Celebrate New Year’s Eve in a different way

If you are looking for special places to celebrate the turn of the year, you will have to come to the Kufsteinerland region. From spending the New Year's Eve in the mountains to culinary and cultural highlights - there is something for every taste.

1. New Year's Eve Concert at the Tyrolean Festival Erl

Friends of the operetta will be transported to the diverse world of operetta at 6 p.m. on December 31st.The orchestra of the Tyrolean Festival Erl, conducted by the 26-year-old star Alexander Prior, leads from the Orient to the Wild West. There are only a few tickets left. The concert ends at around 8 p.m.
Afterwards, we suggest walking to the gourmet restaurants in Erl (some of them are toque-awarded) enjoying their delicious cuisine. We recommend booking a table in advance.

2. Evening Snowshoe Hike in Hinterthiersee

If you want to spend some time in nature, we invite you to an evening snowshoe hike in Thiersee. Equipped with snowshoes (available at the tourist information office), sticks and headlamps, hearing snow crunching under your shoes, you walk into the mystical winter forest. After enjoying the clear winter air, you may look forward to the warm and cozy lounge.

3. New Year's Eve at an alpine lodge

An absolute highlight is an overnight stay in an alpine lodge. The Vorderkaiserfeldenhütte offers a delicious 5-course menu with live music and campfire. In case of good weather the view from the Zahmer Kaiser Mountains into the Inn valley is terrific! You shouldn't miss something like that. For those staying overnight, a rich breakfast buffet the following morning provides the necessary energy needed for the day.

4. Culinary highlights

I you want to pamper your palate with a 6-course menu, you should book a table at Viktorias Home for the New Year's Eve. You will be spoiled by the young chef awarded cook (best newcomer in the "A la Carte"). Your expectations will certainly be met, so that you can appropriately celebrate into the New Year’s Day.

5. New Year's Eve for Mountain Enthusiasts

If you like being in the mountain all year round, you can celebrate the turn of the year on the top of our numerous panoramic mountains. Depending on the weather, you have a particularly good view from various peaks in our region.

Kranzhorn: With a view towards Bavaria and Tyrol you are spoiled for choice. But there are no places for meals or refreshments nearby.
Spitzstein: Just like the Kranzhorn, you have a great view towards Germany and Austria. For the time after midnight, you find rustic huts or alpine inns nearby as well as further down including the possibility for staying overnight.
Pendling: The local landmark mountain offers a magnificent view of Kufstein. Since this is not an insider tip, other visitors are expected. The Kufsteinerhaus lodge specially opens for this event and is already fully booked weeks in advance.
Weinbergerhaus: Is not situated on a peak but definitely a unique panoramic mountain. The local mountain of Kufstein is very popular all year round and certainly well attended on New Year's Eve.

6. In case of hangover on New Year’s Day

The snow festival in Hinterthiersee at the valley station of the Tirolina ski area has become an integral part of the New Year's Day. Accompanied by music, the ski club offers a spectacular ski show with torch ski run, fire jumping and fireworks. Even for “after party” visitors the show is a spectacle worth seeing that shouldn’t be missed.
