Stimmersee - an insider's tip for dog lovers

It looks as though the majestic local mountain, Pendling, is keeping watch over the idyllic Stimmersee. When you get to one of the two lidos, on the eastern and western shore, the view of the deep green water and thick forests is enchanting.

A paradise for water rats. And for anyone who doesn't want to leave their beloved four-legged friend at home. Stimmersee is one of the few lakes in Kufsteinerland where dogs (on the leash) are welcome. But it's not only dog lovers who enjoy the treasure at the foot of Pendling; it's also popular with families and athletes. Flat access to the water means that it's perfect for small children, and competitive matches are held on the beach volleyball court.

Anyone who wants to relax a little more can finish off a round hike with a dip in the cool water. For hikers – including those accompanied by their loyal four-legged friends – the approximately six hour tour up Pendling (1,565 meters) is a worthwhile goal, and for bikers the location directly on the cycling track is perfect. People of all ages and fitness levels; at Stimmersee the bathing guests are a varied mix.

Whether boating, swimming or exploring the area around the lake – the bathing lake is a true vacation paradise for families.

There is plenty of space for little ones to romp around – both on land and in the lake. While children play on the large playground or in the water with the Aqua Jump and water slide, parents can enjoy some time out in the café directly on the lake, or rent out one of the stand-up paddle boards. Finally the whole family can explore the lake with one of the rowing or pedal boats from the boat rental.

Hechtsee – for sport & relaxation

Only around seven kilometres from Kufstein is the well-known bathing lake Hechtsee, beautifully located in the Brandenberg Alps at the foot of Thierberg. The dark spruce trees reflect in the clear water of the lake, the shimmering water competing with the leaves on the trees for the most beautiful green. At the latest when you reach the shore of the lake you will realise why Hechtsee is known as the "hidden jewel of Tyrol".

Surrounded by trees. Open meadows. A belt of reeds. Picturesque spots. Fascinating views.

For some it's a power place in the mountains, for others a bathing El Dorado, and even for athletes it's the perfect location. Swimming, running and cycling – Hechtsee is the perfect place for triathletes. The beautiful lawn, with shady trees, is an oasis for people looking to relax. The up to 24 degree water invites relaxed swimming, water volleyball challenges or boating. And anyone who likes combining bathing with sporty activities out of the water will find plenty of opportunities around the lake. A sign at the car park reveals the nicest running, Nordic walking and cycling tours. One of the most popular hiking tours is the four lakes hike, which leads from Hechtsee via Egelsee and Längsee to Pfrillsee. The two and a half hour hike is also perfect for families. And after the sports at Hechtsee there are two possible rewards: a dip in the cool water, and culinary delicacies at the Seearena Hechtsee. Treat yourself to typical Austrian creations on the sunny terrace, and enjoy the wonderful panorama with all your senses.

Insider info: where did the lake get its name? The question is not easy to answer, but there are countless pike ("Hecht" in German) swimming around in the 75-meter deep water, making the lake very popular for fishing.
